VSFTP user access guide on RHEL/Centos/Oracle linux step by step
In this
tutorial we learn how to configure VSFTP user access guide on linux. How to configure
anonymous user access ,upload file on
ftp server as anonymous user and how to configure specific user to access ftp
server.
Anonymous user access on ftp server
To give the
ftp server access to the anonymous use first
we need to go ftp configuration file. anonymous_enable parameter is used to
provide the anonymous access on the ftp server. By default the parameter value
to set YES which means anonymous user can access ftp server. But they can not
upload the file on the ftp server because of the permission issue.
To upload
file on the ftp server for the anonymous user we need to change the permission
of the directory “/var/ftp/pub” directory to execute the below command.
#chmod
777 /var/ftp/pub
And also
set one parameter which is “anon_upload_enable” to YES.
To restrict the user to access the ftp service
To restrict
the user to access the ftp server first open the “/etc/vsftpd/ftpusers” file
and entry the name of the users which
you want to block and restart the ftp service to change the affect .

To access the ftp service only for specific users
We can
configure to access the ftp service for the specific users to do this tasks we
need to go the vsftp configuration file and add the below line.
userlist_deny=NO
and then save and exit from the configuration file
.
After doing
the above task go to “/etc/vsftpd/user_list” and entry the name of the specific
users to acces the ftp server and save the file.
